And so the journey begins…

And so I find myself at the threshold of the Android World.  (E)books in hand, I journey onward, reading to learn and learning to read [android code].  Today is an exciting day for me.  I have finished school for the semester and my days are less hectic.  I am ready to begin the project of learning Android.  By this writing, there are several good books on the topic and I finally have time to absorb and learn.

I read some Android literature before and I already carry in my toolbox a few good ringers.  I’ve got my IDE set up and ready to rock.  I’ve got my library subscription to Safari Books Online.  I’ve downloaded a couple of Android books already.  By the way, I’m using Adobe Digital Editions to read from.  It’s a pretty nifty peace of software that also reads PDF books in a user friendly manner.  My current library includes the note-worthies of:  Android Wireless Application Development, Beginning Android 2, Pro Android 2 Development, and Professional Android 2 Application Development.  The last book is interesting because I got it for free from wowebook.com immediately after it was released.  I have no clue how they are able to distribute this book free but the site appears to be legitimate and legal.  All they ask for is a humble (or substantial) donation.

Today is the birthday of my new blog, anotherandroidblog.com.  If the domain name sounds dumb that’s probably because it was about my fifteenth choice but the first available for purchase.  I hope to use this blog to track my progress and to help anyone else seeking to take this journey with me… or after.  Please subscribe to my rss feed and if you wish to partake.  Even better, subscribe and comment.  I would enjoy having the conversation of peers in this journey.  Also, writing generally helps the self-evaluation process and will hopefully keep me on track.

By the way… I hope this theme fits well enough and isn’t too distracting. I found it on wordpress.net. I’ve kept the theme author’s name attached as he has saved me much pain. I don’t really want to spend too much time getting this blog up and running. My preference is towards studying and adding content.
